Emirates Transport, the leading transport provider in the UAE, announced the launch of ‘Emirtas’, a new service offering last mile solutions, to add to its profile of services supporting the logistics sector in the UAE.
Faryal Tawakul, Acting CEO of Emirates Transport, stated that the launch of the service comes in line with the rapid changes taking place in all business sectors in the country, including the logistics sector, which confirmed its vital role during the Covid-19 pandemic.
She said: “Supporting the logistics sector in the region has become a mainstay of Emirates Transport, especially in light of the challenges and restrictions imposed by the pandemic and the growing demand for e-commerce, shipping and logistics services.
“These market developments highlights the importance of developing new mechanisms to facilitate the smooth transfer of goods and products to-and-from customers with speed and accuracy, and according to the highest applicable specifications and standards,” Tawakul added.
The Acting CEO of Emirates Transport further explained that the Company’s package of services in the trucking and logistics sectors includes the leasing of motorcycles and providing drivers for the delivery of goods, parcels and various shipments; services that were developed and used to launch the last mile service or the so-called delivery services for the final recipient. She added that – to motivate drivers and ensure quality of services – drivers’ earning potential was linked to the number of shipments they complete.
Tawakol said that, in recent months, Emirates Transport was able to successfully sign five contracts to provide last mile transport services and solutions. The contracts will see Emirates Transport provide 700 motorcycles with drivers for the benefit of delivery companies, restaurants and food establishments.
Tawakol explained that the last mile distribution services provided by Emirates Transport will contribute to improving customer experience, and ensure business continuity and sustainability by stimulating and supporting business and effectively contributing to their growth.
