Under the patronage and in attendance of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Member of the Cabinet and Minister of Tolerance, and in the presence of HE Jamila Salem Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education Affairs, Emirates Transport concluded on Thursday the School Transport Week in Abu Dhabi at Khalifa A School in Abu Dhabi city.
The ceremony included the honouring of 58 distinguished school bus drivers and supervisors in Abu Dhabi, including 3 employees who have completed 20 years of service, in addition to honouring the Ministry of Tolerance, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Interior and a number of partners and supporters in school transport operations in the Emirate.
Mohammed Abdulla Al Jarman, general manager of Emirates Transport, said in a speech at the ceremony that the School Transport Week is an annual initiative organized across the country before the start of the new school year, focusing on boosting the psychological, practical and field preparation particularly relating to the safety aspect, through a number of educational programmes and intensive awareness events in cooperation with a distinguished group of partners from the government and community sectors.
The ET general manager pointed out that with the start of the new academic year 2019-2020, there will be 7,000 school buses transporting approximately 258,000 students through 8,700 bus routes to 708 public and private schools nationwide with the help of 6,950 drivers and 6,860 bus supervisors.
He praised the efforts of bus drivers and supervisors and their keenness to adhere to the highest occupational conduct and their care for the transported students, under the supervision of ET’s management teams in Abu Dhabi, wishing everyone success.
