The 8th Emirates Transport (ET) Month of Occupational Health and Safety was inaugurated this week by Mohammed Abdullah Al Jarman, ET General Manager.
Held under the theme “Safety is a Responsibility and a Commitment”, the month-long event aims to increase awareness and provide basic health and safety training to employees of the federal transport corporation.
Throughout the month of March, ET employees in all branches across the State, will be presented with lectures, workshops and programmes that will highlight how they can keep safe whilst performing their duties.
The awareness month also aims to raise awareness of general health issues among ET employees, who will have a chance to learn about best health practices as well as benefit from various free medical check-ups. Events also target to the wider community with many events open to the general public, including a competition on Instagram for school students.
This year’s event is held under the sponsorship of Nasser Bin Abdullatif Alserkal Est., Tebra General Trading company and Black Box Integrated Systems, with the participation of dozens of public and private sector entities.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Jarman, ET general manager, stressed the significance of such events which play a vital role in increasing awareness, among employees, of a very important issue.
Khalid Shukur, manager of the Department of Environment and Occupational Health & Safety (HSE) at ET, said the awareness month will not only offer employees of the federal transport corporation an important opportunity to learn about health and safety at work but will also include awareness on general health and lifestyle issues.
“The main aim of the campaign is health and safety at work, but we also know that educating people about an overall healthy lifestyle can have many benefits for them both in their personal and professional lives.” said Shukur.
