Emirates Transport conducts eye screening initiative for 3,700 school transport drivers in the Northern Emirates

Emirates Transport (ET) has announced the successful completion of a comprehensive vision screening initiative for 3,700 school bus drivers across the Northern Emirates. Conducted in partnership with Al Jaber Optical, the month-long program ran from March 30 to April 29, 2026.

The conclusion of the initiative coincided with the “World Day for Safety and Health at Work” on April 28, and follows the recent return of students to in-person learning across the country. The campaign underscores ET’s commitment to the highest standards of occupational health and safety, ensuring the physical fitness of its drivers to provide a safe and reliable transport environment for students and staff alike.

Rashid Khalfan Almheiri, Chief Human Resources and Administrative Officer at Emirates Transport, emphasized that the initiative reflects the company’s core values of safety and care.

“The safety of our drivers is a fundamental pillar of the school transport system,” said Al Muhairi. “This initiative demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of our operational workforce. We continue to implement qualitative programs that enhance staff readiness and fulfill our corporate responsibility toward the safety of both our employees and the students we serve. We also value our partnership with Al Jaber Optical, which has been instrumental in the success of this and previous joint initiatives.”

For his part, Saleh Al Shawa, General Manager at Al Jaber Optical, expressed his pride in collaborating with Emirates Transport on this initiative, emphasising the importance of cross-sector collaboration in promoting health and safety practices within the workplace.

“We are proud to partner with Emirates Transport on this initiative, which translates our commitment to social responsibility by supporting school bus drivers, as a vital segment providing an essential service to the community,” the spokesperson stated. “The professional coordination between both teams played a pivotal role in managing this month-long campaign efficiently, paving the way for further cooperation in future safety-driven initiatives.”
