Emirates Transport: Smooth and safe resumption of 10,200 school buses serving 285,000 students across public and private schools

Coinciding with students’ return to in-person classes this morning, Monday, Emirates Transport (ET) announced the resumption of operations for 10,200 school buses serving more than 285,000 students enrolled in 630 public and private schools. This follows the decision of the Ministry of Education and has been implemented in coordination with strategic partners across the sector.

The company confirmed that its school transport operations are proceeding in an orderly and efficient manner, ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and comfort for students. All school buses commenced their daily routes from the early morning hours from stations located across the UAE, reflecting the high level of operational readiness of both the workforce and the fleet.

In this context, Mr. Sulaiman Jasim Al Hammadi, Headof School Transport Operations and School Transport Advisor, welcomed the ministerial decision, which was issued in light of the assessment by the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA). He affirmed that, from the moment the decision was announced, the company immediately initiated its implementation by mobilising administrative and field teams, who promptly undertook their responsibilities to resume operations in accordance with pre-established routes and carefully developed proactive plans covering all aspects of school transport operations, while ensuring compliance with the updated regulatory procedures for receiving students.

Al Hammadi further highlighted the full technical and operational readiness of more than 10,200 school buses to ensure the safety of students and transport crews. He added:
“Today’s operations were carried out by more than 10,000 qualified drivers, supported by 10,000 male and female transport and safety supervisors trained to handle all circumstances, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey for more than 285,000 students to over 630 schools across the UAE, through more than 10,000 routes. This reflects the company’s long-standing values and extensive expertise in delivering school transport services in line with the highest standards of safety and occupational health.”

He further commended the high level of coordination with all strategic partners within the education sector, including the Ministry of Education, school administrations, and other relevant government entities. He emphasised that the company maintained full operational readiness throughout the period of remote learning in recent weeks, in anticipation of directives to resume school transport services at any time. During this period, preventive maintenance activities for the fleet were intensified across more than 23 accredited technical centres operated by the company, while field teams remained on standby through the implementation of scheduled training and refresher programmes.

Emirates Transport also affirmed its commitment to promptly responding to any feedback related to bus operations, routes, and student pick-up and drop-off points through its toll-free Call Centre number 8006006. The company continues to coordinate closely with partners, relevant authorities, and school administrations to monitor any developments, ensuring the full stability of school transport operations during the initial days following the resumption of services.
